DONATE CAMERAS
Throughout the year The Lexicon Project is giving cameras to those who don't have cameras. They take pictures and their distinct views of life in Lexington will be entered into the Project.

The cameras are not fancy, but they work. They take a picture, the picture looks fine. This is what we would like from you.

If you have an unused camera, let us put it to use. Old Polaroids, point-and-shoots from 1985, cameras you can no longer find film for--whatever it is, we'll take it and recycle it into the community.

Have a camera? Want to donate it? Drop us a line -- info@lexiconproject.com -- and we'll work out a way to pick it up from you.

Know someone who doesn't have a camera but needs one? Would you like a camera? info@lexiconproject.com.

FIDUCIARY SUPPORT
The Lexicon Project was commissioned by no organization, museum, or interest group. It is a community driven, grassroots initiative. It is, perhaps, a new way to address the differences and obstacles that may normally create tension within a community. Mostly it is a conversation piece and a point of common reference.

The Project's first steps were made possible by our own wages and the very generous and much appreciated kindness of individuals in the community.

Donations:
It doesn't have to be $5,000. From $1 to $1,000, if you might like to donate money, contact us and we can answer your questions, find a time to meet, or simply give you an address. info@lexiconproject.com.

Sponsorship:
If your company is interested in serving as a sponsor for The Lexicon Project, we have many exciting opportunities for you to reach out to the community.

We can work with you to find the best sponsorship program for your business or organization. It may be as simple as loaning us office equipment or as extravagant as a $1 billion check.

It's up to you. We're open to all ideas. And we're always 0% APR: info@lexiconproject.com.

SUBMIT PICTURES
There's really only one picture we'd like to take. It would be a photograph of Lexington with every single person in the city, all with a camera in their hands, all taking a picture.

Failing that we'd just like to see more pictures. Yes, we'd like to see your pictures.

You don't have to be a professional photographer, you just need to take pictures. And you do! You take pictures and some of them you like and some of them you don't.

These images you have captured, however private or mundane, are part of life in Lexington. They are moments in our time.

If you think it's a good picture, if it shares a powerful moment, if you just like the memory send us an email: info@lexiconproject.com.

Digital or film, we'd love to see your pictures.

RULES:

  • The picture must have been taken between January 2005 and December 2005. We trust that you will follow this rule and not break it.
  • The picture must be taken in Lexington, KY or in one of the immediately surrounding counties.
  • By sending us a picture (or pictures) you are giving us permission (unless otherwise stated) to post that picture on this website. We will contact you before doing anything else with it.

SUGGESTIVE POWER
There are innumerable ways to get involved in The Lexicon Project. Above we have mentioned just a few windows of opportunity.

You see the world differently than we do. We'd like to hear about it. Every new outlook makes the Project stronger.

You may have an idea for a picture we should take--or even a series of pictures. You may have a theory about Lexington you'd like to see photgraphically diagrammed.

Trying to look inquisitively at a city you see everyday is not easy but it is always interesting. We are certain there is a medically certified doctor somewhere willing to give us a stamp of approval. You just might be that doctor!

If you've always wanted to know something about Lexington, let us know and we'll try to find out. If you know something about Lexington that we should know, tell us.

If you're just bored at work and are looking for someone to send an email to--we are your someone!

Your powers of suggestion may be just the fuel our little Project needs.
